INTERVIEW: Signed, Sealed, Delivered's KRISTIN BOOTH shares What She Loves Most about the Hallmark Series and More...

Dear POstables,

Today, here at "It's a Wonderful Movie," I am most excited to "deliver" to you my interview with the lovely actress ~ Kristin Booth (Shane McInerney), of the beloved Hallmark Movies & Mysteries series "Signed, Sealed, Delivered!"

When I connected with Kristin and suggested having this Q&A chat, she was most giving and agreed right away! I found her to be warm, engaging, witty and smart... all words I would also use to describe her vivacious character, Shane! Speaking of... we will be delving into more details on Shane below, who is often known to bend the rules, just a bit, to get the job done... all while wearing high heels and looking stylish, of course!

We've traveled quite a road with our POstables detective team, Eric Mabius (Oliver O’Toole), Kristin Booth (Shane McInerney), Geoff Gustafson (Norman Dorman), and Crystal Lowe (Rita Haywith). The last movie, incredibly #9, was "Signed, Sealed, Delivered: The Road Less Traveled!" Leading up to that point, there have been numerous twists and turns, letters delivered, faith restored, and hearts mended throughout this journey. (See the chronological order of the complete "SSD" series, thus far, here!)

The next venture for our POstables is "Signed, Sealed, Delivered: To the Altar," Norman and Rita's wedding, and perhaps "something special" for Oliver and Shane, as well! There is certain to be high emotions as the couple plans for the big day, all while attempting to deliver a very important package, which coincidentally just-so-happens to be a beautiful wedding dress!

Kristin and I discuss below... "Signed, Sealed, Delivered: To the Altar," her incredible Co-Stars, "SSD" creator and writer, Martha Williamson, the amazing guest stars that have come and gone throughout the series, the possibility of more "SSD" movies, weddings, and much more!

I hope you enjoy our interview *chat* below - delivered straight to you...

Net, It's a Wonderful Movie: Welcome, Kristin, to ‘It’s a Wonderful Movie,’ where we chat about family-friendly movies on TV!

POstables (fans of “Signed, Sealed, Delivered”) just adore you and admire the way you portray the somewhat serious and proficiently tech-savvy Shane McInerney, Oliver’s love interest. Please tell us a little about your character, Shane, in “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” and how she has evolved since that first pilot movie in 2013?

Kristin Booth: Shane definitely started the series with a more serious or perhaps I should say conventional approach to her work. What I love most about Signed, Sealed, Delivered is the dynamic between the four POstables. Each one of them is unique and on their own journey but they teach each other new lessons, forcing these characters to question themselves and their beliefs. When we first meet Shane she is pragmatic, she is a woman of technology with very little faith in people and even less faith in God. With each new letter & experience working alongside Oliver, Rita & Norman she is constantly challenged, forced to be more open and ultimately grow. And here we are 5 years later and of course she is still the technically savvy, smart woman she was but now her heart is wide open, willing to let people in and maybe even accepting that a faith in God is not a weakness but a strength.

Net, It's a Wonderful Movie: Beautifully said, Kristin! As we've watched Kristin grow gradually in her spiritual journey, I think it has helped many to understand the importance and joy in discovering faith and trusting in God.

Net, It's a Wonderful Movie: From the start, “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” was blessed with such a wonderful main cast! What is it like to work with your co-stars: Eric Mabius (Oliver O’Toole), Geoff Gustafson (Norman Dorman), and Crystal Lowe (Rita Haywith), who along with you make up the incredible POstables, the (DLO) Dead Letter Office detectives?

Kristin Booth: We have such a great time shooting together! And having such incredible scripts, stories to tell makes it even better! We’re also blessed with a wonderful, talented crew which gives us the luxury of being able to step onto set to work but also have fun while we do. It’s a treat to work with such talented actors everyday.

Net, It's a Wonderful Movie: Awwwwe... well, each new movie is a gift for us viewers, as we watch the four of you! It's like Christmas, unwrapping each new story!

Net, It's a Wonderful Movie: Over the years, “Signed, Sealed Delivered” has had such an amazing ensemble cast of characters and stars, including: Gregory Harrrison (pictured below), Zak Santiago, Emilie Ullerup, Mark Valley, Poppy Montgomery, Barry Bostwick (pictured below), Colleen Camp (pictured below), Valerie Bertinelli, Marilu Henner, Kim Delaney, Keb’ Mo’, Della Reese, Valerie Harper, Marion Ross (pictured above), Carol Burnett (pictured below), and so many more! What is it like to work with so many creative, interesting people?

Kristin Booth: We’ve been just so darn lucky to have this list of people come and tell Martha’s stories with us. I mean I had to pinch myself several times while working with Carol Burnett....she’s a comedy legend! It’s been such an incredible learning experience being able to work with so many talented actors, each one has taught me something new or shared a moment or a story that will stay with me forever.

Net, It's a Wonderful Movie: I am always amazed by “Signed, Sealed, Delivered’s” creator Martha Williamson (of “Touched by an Angel”) and the powerful, emotional stories she creates and weaves together with an element of faith. What is it like to portray her words and work with Martha on set?

Kristin Booth: Working with Martha has been truly an indescribable experience on so many levels. There have been times when I have doubted whether or not I could deliver (pardon the pun) the right emotion at the moment she wrote it to happen but then miraculously when I’m in the scene and I’m saying her lines, the emotion just comes. Martha’s words are like gold to an actor. She weaves such an incredible story with so many layers and nuance and sub text, it’s wonderful!

Net, It's a Wonderful Movie: In January of this year, Hallmark Channel fans were treated to a Winterfest movie, “Winter’s Dream,” which, for those of you reading here may not know… was originally created by Kristin Booth and her husband, Tim Ware, who also co-wrote the script with Gregg Rossen and Brian Sawyer!

Was seeing this idea become a movie, a dream come true for you both, Kristin? Do you and your husband plan/hope to create even more Hallmark movies in the future?

Kristin Booth: It was such a wonderful experience to work alongside my husband and see the movie go from the page to the screen. We hope to work with Hallmark to make many more movies!

Net, It's a Wonderful Movie: Oh, that is wonderful news, Kristin! I'm sure we'll all look forward to it! Also, I must ask… what was it like to work with the "sheerly awesome" Dean Cain (Superman!) and Kristy Swanson?

Kristin Booth: It was such a treat to work with both Kristy and Dean! I mean we had Superman and Buffy!

Net, It's a Wonderful Movie: It’s almost hard to believe “Signed, Sealed, Delivered: To the Altar” finally celebrates Norman and Rita’s wedding day! Ahhh!!!! We’ve waited so long! Watching those two fall in love throughout the “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” series has been such a joy. The exact same can be said for Shane and Oliver, as well. Do you have a favorite scene or memorable filming moment in “Signed, Sealed, Delivered: To the Altar” that you are able to share with us?

Kristin Booth: I think my favorite moment while shooting To The Altar was a moment that Shane and Rita share. Crystal & I didn’t know each other before SSD so we weren’t at each other’s weddings, it was a little like we were able to share that experience together through Shane & Rita.

Net, It's a Wonderful Movie: Did creating this wedding movie bring back any special memories of your own wedding day?

Kristin Booth: I remember being so stressed while planning my wedding!! When the day came it ended up being so beautiful I had wished that I hadn’t spent so much time worrying about every little detail. The most important component at a wedding is having all your friends and family in one room sharing stories, great food and perhaps cutting a rug or two.

Net, It's a Wonderful Movie: Besides being smart and knowledgeable about modern technology, Shane’s look has always been fashion-forward and stylish. She can wear chic business attire, her beloved necklace, 4 inch heels, and still keep up with Oliver in his plaid suits, Norman with his sweaters and probably Docker’s pants, and Rita, with her sweet sundresses and owl accessories! What’s it like - creating just the right look for your character, Shane?

Kristin Booth: We work with an incredible wardrobe designer! Val Halverson has done the majority of the movies and that’s where I really saw Shane’s wardrobe reflect her personality. I love fashion and I love helping to create looks for different characters so wardrobe is a favorite component for me. We have so much fun at the fittings for Shane.

Net, It's a Wonderful Movie: As all POstables know, “Signed, Sealed, Delivered: To the Altar” is the 10th SSD movie! Any chance you have an absolute favorite one that stands out a bit more from the rest?

Kristin Booth: Honestly, this is my favorite. Martha weaves an incredible story in To The Altar that deeply affects the POstables. I don’t want to give too much away but there are parts of this one in particular that really hit home for me and I think will resonate with so many of our viewers. It’s a beautiful story of overcoming tragic circumstances beyond ones control only to triumph and mend the past.

Net, It's a Wonderful Movie: What does it mean to you – to create movies that families can watch together on the Hallmark Channel or Hallmark Movies & Mysteries?

Kristin Booth: It’s one of my favorite aspects of this show and the network. I love that families are able to share this show together and that it really does have something for young and old and everything in between. The stories that we tell are compelling, funny, touching, layered and filled with heart, something everyone can relate to.

Net, It's a Wonderful Movie: Any clues as to if we might be able to see more new “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” movies on Hallmark in the future? Or, do you have any other upcoming projects you are able to share with us?

Kristin Booth: At this point we don’t have any news of more Signed, Sealed, Delivered movies but I know that everyone involved wants to make more and doesn’t want to see this series end. I have faith that the stars will align and we’ll be back.

Net, It's a Wonderful Movie: I find there is always deeper meaning to each “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” movie. What do you hope viewers will take away from watching “Signed, Sealed, Delivered: To the Altar?”

Kristin Booth: Honestly I think there are so many different things that viewers will be able to take away from To The Altar but I also believe it’s so personal what people spark to. As with every Signed, Sealed it’s chalk full of hope, love, faith and understanding. It’s a beautiful movie.
