Lifetime Christmas Movie "The Christmas Contract" starring Hilarie Burton & "One Tree Hill" Co-Stars - Confirmed!

Recently, there has been quite a lot of buzz that stars of the drama series "One Tree Hill" are filming in Louisiana a Lifetime Christmas movie titled: "The Christmas Contract."

I can now confirm, after speaking with my contacts at Lifetime, that this is 100% true - in the works!

You can expect to see in "The Christmas Contract" - Hilarie Burton, Robert Buckley, Danneel Harris and Antwon Tanner from "One Tree Hill," plus Jordan Ladd, Cheryl Ladd, Bruce Boxleitner, Jason London, Hunter Burke, Teri Wyble, Ritchie Montgomery, with a musical performance by Tyler Hilton.

The official story synopsis via Lifetime:

It’s Jolie’s (Burton) first time going back home to Louisiana since her devastating break up with Foster (Hunter Burke,). Seeing him is inevitable as their parents run the town’s annual Christmas Market together, but when she discovers Foster is bringing home a new girlfriend, Jolie cannot bear the thought of going home alone and seeing them together. Her best friend Naomi (Ackles) suggests that Jolie bring her flaky brother, Jack (Buckley), home for Christmas as he has no plans. Jolie, a professional web designer, is hesitant; so, Naomi, a lawyer, creates a Christmas contract to give them both something they want—a buffer for those awkward moments around Jolie’s ex and a website to help sell Jack’s upcoming novel. Unbeknownst to them, the Christmas contract proves to be so much more than what they signed up for.

You may also recognize Hilarie Burton from her Hallmark Christmas movie "Naughty or Nice" and her Lifetime Christmas movies "Christmas on the Bayou" and "Last Chance for Christmas."

Watch for "The Christmas Contract" to air this Holiday Season during Lifetime's “It’s A Wonderful Lifetime” Christmas programming event - which will have 14 all new Christmas movies this year!

Much JOY to you all!!! Net

  1. Looks like Lifetime's planning on getting in on the action by giving Hallmark some stark competition! Ahhhhh, Net, what's up with "It's a Wonderful Lifetime"????......a little close to home, isn't it? LOL!!

    1. Linda, Awe... Yes! It's WONDERFUL!!!

Lifetime has changed their slogan around through the years... including: "Fa La La La Lifetime," "It's a Wonderful Lifetime," and last year's "It's a Really, Really Cozy Christmas." (any others???)

And, it sounds like they are going back to "It's a Wonderful Lifetime," which was always (of course!) my favorite!!! :)

      Blessings, Net

  2. That's great you were able to confirm this one, Net. Only thirteen movies to go now from lifetime! lol! It's hard to know which movies will end up on Lifetime or Hallmark, especially since many of the same celebs star in both their movies.

    1. So true! I recall playing a Lifetime movie once and a family member asked and was surprised the movie was Lifetime and not Hallmark. Their Christmas movies definitely have the same feel, which is a win-win for us, and quite different than the average Lifetime movie that airs the rest of the year.

    1. Yes, it sure does, Anna! It's most definitely the Hallmark film formula! So true! And, with Hilarie Burton starring in it, it's sure to have that same feel, too... just different channel! :)

    1. Yes, this is so cool, Jill! I was so glad to confirm officially with Lifetime... this is happening!!! I wanted to be 100% sure on the details before sharing.

Some of the OTH cast members actually posted some mysterious on-set pics to Instagram first, but took them down. That's what initially got everyone to talking. Otherwise, I wonder if they would have announced, yet. In any case, that's why I wanted to check with my sources. So happy it's true! :)

    1. Yes, all of Hilarie Burton's Christmas movies are fantastic! I like them all, but I especially love "Naughty or Nice." It is so fun! Secretly, though, I kinda wish she had ended up with her fun co-worker, instead of her "supposed" boyfriend.

  6. In other Christmas news, did you guys see the movie filming Christmas Jingle it has Brooke D'Orsay and Daniel Lissing. That has to be Hallmark. So happy to see Daniel back to Christmas movies again. And Brooke, she is so good, I hope she becomes a regular Hallmark Christmas movie gal.

Love Hilarie Burton, and Lifetime Christmas movies seem to be getting better, absolutely love Snowed Inn Christmas.

    1. yes... (whispering)... I have seen that new title pop up. The channel airing it has yet to be revealed, so I'm still awaiting official confirmation.

There was another movie previously announced via news reports and social media... the title, actors, channel, etc... But, the network that was tied with that movie at the time was not, yet, finalized, so they contacted me to let me know it wasn't necessarily a done deal.

It is fun to see all the new Christmas movie titles floating around! With 34 from Hallmark, 14 from Lifetime, and a good number from UP, and potentially others, too... there's going to be a lot of them this Christmas season!!!

    2. By the way, I'm so with you, Sabrina... I just love all the movies with Brooke D'Orsay and Hilarie Burton, too!!! :)

    3. I just watched June in January last weekend, she is just so beautiful, gorgeous, I love seeing her in movies and she looks like she is so sweet in real life.

I used to watch One Tree Hill with BJL and Hilarie Burton, with her curly hair as Peyton Sawyer. I love her in Summer Villa and of course, Naughty Or Nice, I might watch that tonight. I just love when she goes to the neighborhood meeting and the girl tells her her house got thousands of pins, and she tells Marco, Don't leave me alone. And she wins the cheese of the month, yum. And I love when Marco tells the other girl "you are going to keep a lot of stuff fresh" when she wins the tuperwear.

    4. Santa's Boots looks like Hallmark too, cause it is FSP, Front Street Productions that is usually Hallmark. But there is also a movie called Critters that is FSP, but that doesn't sound like Hallmark at all, so I could be wrong.

I saw a picture of Brooke D'Orsay With Daniel Lissing on FB. I so hope this will end up on Hallmark. I love Brooke and would love to see her became a regular face on the Hallmark Channel. I think she and Daniel will be great together!

Love Hilarie Burton too. All of her movies are great! My fav of her is Surprised By Love with Paul Campbell.

    6. Sabrina-
Oh my gosh... I love those lines in Naughty or Nice, too! I also love when Marco asks Krissy if her co-worker, Jill, is her friend, and then he says (paraphrasing) have you ever gone shopping together? She says no, and he replies... then she's not a friend. So good! :)

    7. Joyce-
Excellent pick! "Surprised by Love" is most definitely my favorite Hilarie Burton non-Christmas movie! The chemistry of Hilarie and Paul Campbell is top-notch, plus the supporting cast is so fun to watch, too! One of Hallmark's best- in my book! The piano scene is the best!!! :)

Yes Net...I love the piano scene! Brings everything into focus! And don't you just love Tim Conway talking to Paul Campbell and no one knows he can still speak at that point in the movie! Hilarious!

  7. Happy to see Hilarie and Brooke in upcoming Christmas movies...not so excited about Daniel Lissing though. Hard to watch someone who ruined a great family series WCTH. Not sure if I will watch this one...I really enjoy Brooke though!

    1. NK-
I totally understand. It's still tough for me, too, to fully understand why this path was chosen for WCTH. Not sure if I will completely be able to enjoy this new movie with these thoughts in my mind.

But, I am happy, like you, to see Hilarie and Brooke in new Christmas movie projects! :)

  8. Sabrina -- Front Street is also behind "Aliens Ate My Homework". These companies like to branch out and do more than just Hallmark work. But I will say that, in this case, your guess about Santa's Boots is a pretty good one.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Sabrina -- I wanted to pop back over here and tell you that the (presumed) leading lady in "Santa's Boots" is saying that it's a Lifetime movie, as is one of the crew members. But a couple of the supporting actors in the movie previously referred to it as Hallmark.

So, despite the Front Street involvement, it could possibly still end up with Lifetime. Perhaps Front Street wanted Hallmark to take it, but Lifetime stepped in and got it instead? Who knows?

In any case, these days, even if there are production companies working on the movies who have done a lot of work for and with Hallmark, and even if there are actors and directors involved who have done a lot of work for Hallmark, it doesn't necessarily guarantee that the movies are going to Hallmark anymore, especially Christmas movies (which so many different networks are making).

Brad Krevoy is another one who works with both Hallmark and Netflix on movies, so even his involvement in something is no longer a guarantee of a movie being for Hallmark.

    1. So thoughtful of you to share! Nowadays, Lifetime and Hallmark Christmas movies are so similar in their casting and storylines, one never knows, including the actors and crew, sometimes! Last year several thought "Snowed-Inn Christmas" with Andrew Walker and Bethany Joy Lenz was headed to Hallmark, but then Lifetime got it! And, it was a good get!

This year, I have already heard a production that was talked about being for Lifetime - but my contacts at Lifetime informed me it wasn't a done deal... so I'm careful not to report too soon!

      Thanks so much! Blessing, Net
