  1. Oh how sweet it is! So excited for the upcoming Christmas in July. Almost time again for the warm fuzzies.

Is anybody going to go as far as putting up a Christmas Tree for Christmas in July? That's the person that I WANT to meet. I am actually contemplating putting up my tree but doubtful. Maybe throw up a string of lights somewhere.

I forget who it was last year that put up a Christmas Wreath on their door? Maybe Linda? Or Joyce? I have to think that Sabrina has something planned that will twinkle during the month of July.

    1. Oh, I'm definitely feeling the Christmas spirit again, Jim! I usually put out a little something Christmassy in my home. I do love the glow of Christmas lights... always makes the room seem like it's glowing and alive again! It was Linda who got into the spirit last year, too, and joined in the decorating, but others may have done something special, too! I can hardly believe it's almost here!

Merry Christmas in June & July!!! Blessings, Net

    3. "I do love the glow of Christmas lights... always makes the room seem like it's glowing and alive again!"

I love this line from your reply Net. That is so spot on. The glow and the alive of Christmas lights. I hate it when I take down my Christmas lights at the end of the season (sometimes in my case that isn't until February or March...haha) because everything seems so dark and empty in my apartment. Heck, I think it should be become laws in cities that Christmas lights HAVE to be left up ALL year on the outside. When it's January and all the outside lights are down and I drive around town, it is so dark and depressing and gloomy with the lights gone. I hate that feeling it gives me especially with the holiday season just being over. After having a couple of months of driving down the street and lights all over the place making everything GLOW and ALIVE, it is horribly empty when the glow is gone.

Linda, ahh your beautiful White Wreath has now become a tradition for "Christmas in July" here at IAWM.

    4. Awe, I'm so glad you feel the same, Jim! In our home, we love lights! When the Christmas lights come down inside (around the same time yours do, too!), they are typically replaced with another type of light... a lamp, novelty lights, or lanterns. We love lanterns! They add such a beautiful warmth to the room.

Let me suggest two light features I really love...

The first is a Tabletop White Lantern Candleholder and the other (my favorite!) is a Hallmark Metal House LED Lantern Candle Holder!

We do our best to keep the Light of Jesus in our Hearts and in our Home all throughout the Year!!! :)

    5. I love Christmas time and also Fall. I have something to admit...... I just the other day had to throw away my pumpkins from October, I love pumpkins so much cause they are orange (my favorite color) and I just think they are beautiful, so before Christmas dΓ©cor, I moved them and my straw over under some trees in the shade, so every time I walked out my door, I could see my beautiful pumpkins. But the Florida heat, they started falling apart so I had to throw them away. I feel pumpkins should be around all year.

I was at Hobby Lobby recently, and guess what???? They have some fall stuff and also Christmas stuff out. I got some orange plastic forks, and also some cute little pumpkin zip lock bags for all kinds of fall goodies. I am trying to be early with the pie boxes, I missed them last year but luckily I had so many left over from 2016. I am just a sucker for themed candy bags, cupcake boxes, pie boxes, napkins, paper plates, plastic forks. Hobby Lobby is the best :) And I have tons of Fall and Thanksgiving napkins from walmart last year that I got for like $0.30.

I'm so excited too! I have a few things that sit out year round but this year I'm putting out a snowman that was new to us last Christmas. He stands about 24 in tall and glows with changing lights. He will be placed near the TV so I can see him while enjoying the Christmas in July event. He's quite the show piece! I have a very large collection of snowmen!

    1. Joyce, you just reminded me of my Snowman that I actually leave out ALL year long next to my TV. I also have a wonderful Christmas Snow globe that my Sister bought me some years ago that sits next to the snowman and I also leave out all year.

You know how when something is there all the time that you just kind of forget about it. Thank you so much for reminding me. I just now lit up my snowman and played a little of the Christmas music that the snow globe plays by winding up the little knob on it. Besides the music it plays I actually like the sound of that winding nob as you are spinning it...haha. I know, I'm weird.

My Snowman is only 8 1/2 inches though but I love the spinning colors in it especially when the room is dark. It has that 'Frosty' tint to it. Thanks for the pleasant reminder today.

    2. Joyce and Jim, I love this! I'm always so taken by Snowmen and Snow-globes! Anything, basically, that lights up and plays Christmas music, too, is the best! What a perfect way to celebrate Christmas in June/July!!! :)

      Jim,
Happy to help my friend! And you have reminded me of a snow globe I have that plays music as well. Thanks!
And Net...you would love my snowman collection!

    4. Jim, our Lord is the Light and we celebrate by decorating and giving gifts one to another. It brings joy and happiness to all of us who believe. You're not alone in your sadness in having to put away Christmas treasures for yet another year. Some feel sadness and remorse that the world has given us a "cut off date". Not so for me and my family....I have many outdoor low voltage pathway lights that gives me that safe, soft, love glow that lifts me every time I gaze out of my windows all year round! I have some soft Christmas type wall lighting indoors that I will never take down because they make me happy. So, decorate, sweet Jim, and be glad in it!!

    5. Joyce, I love that you got your snow globe out, too! I'm sure I would just love your snowman collection, it sounds lovely. We have the Jan Karon 'Mitford' snowmen ornaments that came out many years ago from Hallmark. I still cherish those!

    6. Linda, How beautiful, as always! Your words expressed exactly what my heart feels! Thank you for sharing the true Light of Christmas! It isn't about July or December, it's about Jesus and the joy he fills our hearts with!

    7. Net, it might not be about July or December, but it certainly is about January...haha. I need to let Jesus' light shine more brightly in that month. I seem to fail miserably in giving in to the darkness during that time. I guess I need to have a stronger faith and believe like some of you have.

Linda's spiritual light seems to shine through her writings, literally speaking. I mean something real and palpable, not just figuratively speaking. Something that can be sensed and felt for real on the readers end if you are open to it. I intuitively can sense it and feel it surrounding me and penetrating me as I read what she writes. Hard to put into words what I mean. I feel a warmth and my soul seems to light up and fill my body, traveling through and all around me.

Linda, last year I left one string of garland Christmas lights up all year. Never took them down. I didn't do that this year. I should have in taking your advice above. Thanks.

    8. Jim, When Christmas comes to an end, I always think of you and keep you in my prayers. You are a very special part of this amazing, beautiful "It's a Wonderful Movie" family!

I am always deeply blessed by Linda's comments, as well... I'm so glad you feel the same! We have a common bond here in our enjoyment of movies, but more importantly, in our faith. Each day is a gift from God! It wasn't by happenstance that all of our paths came here together.

      Blessings, Net

    9. Thanks so much Net. Like Linda, so many of your comments cause the same reaction in me. I feel a holy turning back to God as I experience some of the voices on this blog. It's something real inside me. I can't quite describe it properly in words what happens inside me. There is something so holy and good and kind coming from this place.

    10. Jim, I do believe your venture on the "Damascus Rd." is coming to an end! Go up to the top of this page, click on "Christmas Story" and "peruse". Tears fall from my eyes every time I visit. It's so perfectly penned by Net and my favorite post. Find a quiet place, repeat the "Sinners Prayer" and see what happens....Peace, dear friend...

    11. Thank you, Jim and Linda... words cannot express. I'm overwhelmed and overcome by your gracious words of kindness and encouragement. The "Christmas Story" post has always been my guiding light, my inner source, my focus... when things get too busy. Christmas shouldn't be about all the rush, stress, and exhaustion. Instead, of just preparing our homes with lights, we should prepare our hearts with His light! Thank you, Linda, for letting me know how much the "Christmas Story" post touches you. I pray it blesses you, as well, Jim!

Blessings to you both and all who read these words! Net
