STUDIO CITY, CA – March 28, 2018 – Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, has ordered “The Chronicle Mysteries,” a new movie franchise from Alison Sweeney, with Sweeney set to star and executive produce. Sweeney will produce the movie series with Craig Baumgarten (Shattered Glass) of Zero Gravity Management. Melissa Salmons, who first worked with Sweeney at “Days of our Lives” and subsequently wrote several of her projects from Crown Media Family Networks, will write the movies.

“Viewers are going to love this new mystery from the incomparable Alison Sweeney,” said Michelle Vicary, Executive Vice President, Programming and Publicity, Crown Media Family Networks. “Sweeney’s return to Hallmark Movies & Mysteries is something we’ve been waiting for and we are so excited that she has worked to bring ‘The Chronicle Mysteries’ to life for us.”

“I’m so honored that Bill, Michelle and the entire team at Crown Media have supported my vision as an actress, producer and now content provider,” added Sweeney. “I’ve recently participated in a few true crime podcasts and met leading crime experts to bridge my obsession with true crime and my love of storytelling.”

“The Chronicle Mysteries” stars Sweeney, as Roberta "Robbie" McPherson a novelist and podcaster who's researching the cold case of Gina DeSavio. Robbie loves the chase, loves solving any puzzle or mystery. She is particularly interested in Gina's disappearance because she and Gina knew each other growing up together in a small town.

Sweeney previously starred and executive produced the “Murder She Baked” franchise of movies for Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, “Love on the Air,” “The Irresistible Blueberry Farm” and “Christmas at Holly Lodge” for Hallmark Channel.

  1. I love her!! I just wish the "Murder She Baked" series would come back. The last movie ended with her and Mike finally coming together but I was hoping for the a "Murder She Baked - Wedding Cake Something.."

    1. Me, too, Alicia! I was certainly hoping they might bring "Murder She Baked" back for one last big hurrah... wedding mystery movie! I guess we should've known when they wrapped it all up so quickly in the last movie with their engagement. It just seemed not-quite finalized. For whatever reason, I guess they've decided to move on. I know many of us will certainly miss Eden Lake and all the characters we loved there.

    1. Yes, I agree, Debbie... it's always exciting to learn of a new mystery series and Alison is well-loved by lots of Hallmark movie viewers. This particular mystery sounds rather intriguing, as it is a cold case, still left unsolved many years later.

    1. Wish I knew, Jen. I loved it, too, and I agree, the cast was truly top-notch all around! If only we had a clue as to why they decided to stop making them. It remains a mystery for all of us MSB fans.

  6. I really do like Allison Sweeney, but it's funny how she's starring in another mystery series while it seems that Murder She Baked was very popular. It was one of my favorites, along with the very unfortunately short-lived Flower Shop Mysteries. I wish they'd bring that back. Not too crazy about the present ones, but will definitely watch the new one with Allison.

  9. I have watched all the Murder she baked movies at least 5 times each. Allison and Cameron had the best chemistry....hard to believe that they weren't really in love. Hoping for at least one more with a mystery and a wedding. Please Hallmark make this happen

  10. Sad too. Alison and Cameron did have a seriously wonderful onscreen chemistry. Hard to find and when it's so believable you never want the series to end.
