PLOT:

via ION press release: In "Meet My Valentine," Tom (Wolf) pulls out all the stops to take care of the two women in his life: his 8-year-old daughter, Phoebe, and his wife, Valentine (Ford), before confiding in her that he only has months to live. In tying up loose ends for his beloved spouse, Tom thinks of everything, even embarking upon an audition process to find his most worthy successor. Throughout the ordeal, Tom quickly realizes that he doesn't know much about her anymore, but soon finds himself falling in love again with Valentine like it was the very first time.

Movie Review:

Meet My Valentine was a pleasant film, tinged with deep sadness. In the movie, Tom (portrayed by Scott Wolf) has been diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor and has only months to live. He decides not to tell his wife, Valentine, or his young daughter, Phoebe.

Instead, he enlists his comedian brother, who is the only one he has confided in, into helping him find the perfect man to replace him, as a husband & father. Tom and his brother come up with this on-line dating scheme to meet potential matches for Val, which sets the two up for a dose of reality when they meet some unique potential on-line suitors.

While trying to find the perfect man to be a husband and father to his family, Tom looks deeper into all of his wife's interest and the two, who had been drifting slowly apart, are now becoming closer than ever, making the true situation and pain of what is to come, even worse for Tom.

Please know the end of this Review Contains Spoilers:

Tom thinks a close friend, Michael, and co-worker of Val's may be the suitable replacement, but no promises are made.

Through the course of time, Tom's condition becomes even more apparent to Val, who has been suspicious of there being something wrong. In the end, he shares the truth with her.

It is a bittersweet ending, with a balding Tom, due to chemotherapy, sitting in a wheelchair on the porch, surrounded by family and friends, watching his daughter Phoebe, learn to ride her bike, with Michael being the one to give her the push.

See or Skip:

This story may help those who are going through this situation, or those, who have had a loss.

Please know this subject matter is not intended for young children and there is some brief strong language in it, especially at the end, when Tom is angry, and coming to terms with his illness and the impact it has on his family.

    1. Yes! I loved Party of 5, too!

I always loved, at the end of the shows, when the family all met at Charlie's restaurant and sat together in their booth.

Also, I agree - it's good to see Scott again - he hasn't changed, a bit!
